Pocket Park
In keeping with the organization’s mission of redeveloping Mobile’s coastal community in a way that encourages absorption of rain and stormwater, a central community eye-sore continues its transformation into a functional amenity.

Located in the community “downtown” and across from B.C. Rain High School, the highly traveled intersection of DIP at Clubhouse and Brill Roads was a sea of asphalt and concrete.

In 2000, Parkway Pride began the first phase of redevelopment by erecting a three tier planter box. The Peninsula of Mobile coordinated a project in 2017 with the City to apply for and receive an ALDOT Transportation Assistance Program (TAP) sidewalk grant. Thanks to matching City of Mobile Capital Improvement funds, the asphalt and concrete surfaces were removed and replaced with grass and an ADA compliant sidewalk making a safer pedestrian crossing.
